Easter Egg Hunt

IMG_0348

On Sunday we went to church, and then came home and had our Easter egg hunt. Alex managed to get these pictures right after we got home from church. It’s amazing how many pictures we had to take in order to get these few where both kids are (sort of) looking somewhat at the camera. We got some pretty fun expressions though…i.e.…Erik’s bug eyes in the picture above …

Then we went outside to look for eggs.

Adam liked to take the eggs out of his basket more than he liked to put them in.

It was funny to watch the kids try and find eggs. Adam needed pretty explicit and repeated clues. Erik found some easily, even some of the trickier ones…but we had to give some serious hints on others.

Hum, maybe some eggs are up here…

Adam carried around a little purple egg most of the time. He succeeded in opening it to reveal a foil wrapped chocolate egg. Eating that treat was him quest from then on. He didn’t care about finding more eggs…just eating that chocolate. Soon we went inside where he proceeded to cover himself in sticky goodness (luckily I took him out of his Sunday clothes first!). Erik also enjoyed eating chocolate, but thankfully he was a lot neater!

Easter Eggs

IMG_0330

Erik and I decorated Easter eggs yesterday. He had been talking about it for at least a month, so it was fun to finally get to “mix the dyes” as Erik says.

Erik got creative toward the end and we started putting eggs in more than one color of dye. We made a blue green egg, a purplish pink egg, a yellowish green egg…etc.

Here we are cutting out a matching game that came with the egg coloring kit.

Erik took these two pictures! He loves to have a turn with the camera!

Dawn's Birthday

My 29th birthday was on Thursday (April 9th). Here's the tasty ice cream cake Alex got for me :) He insisted on cramming 29 candles onto it, despite the small top area he had to work with!

Erik was exited he got to go pick out the cake with Daddy!

Good thing we had long matches to light all those candles!

Right as I was about to blow out the candles Alex said that some of them were trick candles that won't go out. Here's a video of me trying in vain to extinguish the infernal candles (or should I say the inferno of candles). It was pretty funny how they would seem to blow out and then flicker back a few seconds later.

Before cake, we went out to eat and then went mini golfing. I'd like to say we took these pictures on our outing, but alas, that is not the case. Adam was in some kind of mood during the mini golf excursion, we had to put him on his leash (aka monkey backpack), to keep him from constantly running away. He wanted to hold all the golf balls and chase the ducks into the pond. So, we didn't really have time, or a free hand, to take any pictures. The pictures you see here are some I found online. So just pretend I took these, really :)

It was a very pretty mini golf course. Lots of cute little buildings, water features, grass, and shade. Of course it would have been a bit more relaxing without Adam crying the whole time, but oh well, we try :) We still had fun, and Erik got to try mini golf for the first time. He had a blast, and it was very funny to see him trying to hit the golf ball while holding the golf club all weird and what not.

Nap time anyone?

Quote from Alex: "So I'm playing a really old computer game from when I was a teenager. Erik is sitting next to me in this chair. After I finished a level I looked over and found him completely upright and totally asleep. I ran and grabbed the camera and took a picture as evidence before I moved him to his bed before he fell off the chair."

Erik and Adam had a lot of fun playing in a big cardboard box! They both loved to go inside it, sit on top of it, and stuff things through a small hole in the side of the box.

We had yet another fun field trip with preschool! We went to the Tucson Children's Museum. It has hands on exhibits that are basically different areas for the kids to play and touch things!
Here are the boys in the shopping area.

Adam loved all the different kinds of drums in the music room.

Erik loved the fire engine. Adam wasn't so sure about it, but here he is steering anyway.

The big motorcycle was a hit with everyone!
