2010-05-15 003

Last Saturday we were outside, and I thought Adam was looking especially cute. Something about the sun on his hair, and the little tiny freckles he is getting on his cheeks, and his pretty blue eyes in the natural sunlight.

You can’t really see his freckles in the pictures. But if you use your imagination…you can almost see them in this one.

Erik needs a haircut pretty badly…so he is a bit of a mop head…but a very cute mop head :)

And this is what Alex was doing while I was busy admiring our children. He’s been working on fixing the shade structure. It’s going to take a while yet, but he is making progress. It’s halfway up now and it is great to have some extra shade in the backyard. Thanks honey!

Jolly Old St. Nicholas

Erik's been taking piano lessons for about a month now. Here he is playing Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

Adam’s 3rd Birthday…May 11th

2010-05-11 002

My kids think birthday = pool. That’s fine with me :)

2010-05-11 007

So Adam is three already! Once again I am left scratching my head…when did my baby become a “big boy”? Ok, a little boy…but definitely not a baby. We moved into our house a year before Adam was born, so that means we have lived here for 4 years! Crazy!

I think this might have been Tyler’s first time in a pool. I can’t remember if he ever went “swimming” last summer when he was really little. Here he is wearing his cute new swim suit Daddy got him!

As Adam and Erik were having trouble taking turns with Adam’s birthday balloon, I remembered that I still had this lobster balloon folded up in my closet from Erik’s B-day to be two!

We didn’t have any helium of course, but I just blew it up the old fashioned way (by blowing into it) and it was pretty cool.

2010-05-13 013

Figured we should get some use out of it after over 3 & 1/2 years in the closet ;)

Gila Valley Temple

2010-05-01 014

Last Saturday we went to the Gila Valley Temple open house. It was hectic with Tyler fussing in the car, and Adam being Adam once we got there, but it was very beautiful and I’m so glad we got to go. We got to take some friends from Alex’s work with us, and it was nice to get to show them the temple too.

2010-05-01 003

There is the most beautiful crystal chandelier in the celestial room in the temple. Adam called it a Christmas tree! It was so pretty inside. Alex really noticed all the beautiful wood work of course :) It was really neat for the kids to get to see the inside of a temple! (Note from Alex: the wood work within the temple was really spectacular. Absolutely the finest craftsmanship I have seen in recent memory. All of the molding and paneling within the temple is cherry. A most beautiful cherry with a light stain applied over it. That, or they aged the cherry before installing it. Most of the furniture within the temple is from a lighter wood, perhaps maple or birch. I would like to take more time to look at it if we ever get a chance to do ordinance work at that temple.)

On the way back to the car we got caught in a GIANT dust devil! It got SUPER windy for about 10 seconds. And the wind was FULL of sand and dirt. I have never been in wind like that before. Luckily it went away quickly, or we would have been in trouble. Afterwards Adam kept talking about the giant wind with giant sand that went up to the sky. Gotta love his descriptions of things! (Alex's note: Later that night after Dawn did some laundry she found a bunch of sand in her shirt. Turns out the dust devil was a little devilish and sent sand down her shirt. It was funny when she realized the sand in her shirt while laying on the couch before bed.)

Adam said there was a Mickey mouse in the garden. At first I had no idea what he was talking about…until he pointed to this “Mickey Mouse flower.” (Just look at the dark part of the flower.) Then I was amazed…yes Adam, you found a Mickey Mouse flower! Cool!

A big bunch of still green tomatoes, and a little green orange starting to grow.

Erik built this house with his magnet toys.

2010-04-26 003

I told Adam to sit on the other side of the house, so I could get a picture with both kids next to it. Apparently Adam had other ideas ;)

2010-04-26 006

When I finally got him to scoot over, he said, “I need more space!” and did this interesting move.

2010-04-28 001

And here’s Tyler ripping paper!

2010-04-28 003

Good fun!

No baby, don’t eat the paper!

Yum…
