Knitting with Grandma

2009-07-25 004

Grandma Beth made hats for everybody. Thanks Grandma!! (The doll is wearing what will be Tyler’s hat …once he gets here that is…)

2009-07-25 003

Apparently Erik can’t look at the camera and smile normally at the same time – just one or the other :)

Adam wore his hat for a long time after Grandma gave it to him…he put it on his head and said “in the snow, in the snow.” On Sunday Adam insisted on wearing his hat in the car on the way to church. This, of course, is not so much a problem. However, Sunday turned out to be a 107 degree day. After church he also insisted on wearing it during the 25 min drive home. His head was dripping with sweat when we got home. He loves that hat so much.

The boys wanted to “help” make more hats.

It turns out Erik really can make a hat! Grandma is teaching him how to use the round loom to knit!

Monsoon Rains

On Wednesday we had one of our typical monsoon rains in the evening. Erik likes to go out in the rain and get all wet!

In other news…my Mom is coming tomorrow! We are all excited about her arrival and hoping Tyler (the new baby) will wait at least 24 more hours until she gets here to be born. Adam was born the day before my Mom came - so we are hoping that doesn’t happen again. Of course, having said that I’ll probably still be pregnant in a week or two!

Yup - It's a week later - and still waiting...

I had a little fun changing some pictures to black and white.

Dad’s post

Well I finally got my workbench drawers completed.  I felt like posting pics for no apparent reason but to gloat a little.  Enjoy.

2009-07-23 0032009-07-23 004  The edging on the drawers and the skirt on the bench are padauk.  The skirt is 2.5 years old and a deep red while the freshly cut edging is bright orange.  It’ll all look really good in a year.

Funny Faces

2009-07-12 004

Yet again I couldn’t help but share Adam’s messy face with you. Every time we think he can’t possibly get any messier than he has in the past – he out does himself and sets a new “record” for getting messy! (Note: Partial blame is attributed to his Dad. An open face, not cut up, piece of Nutella bread is NOT something you give to a 2 year old.)

2009-07-13 003

Erik likes to make funny faces when I’m taking pictures. His idea of a funny face usually involves doing something strange with his hands.

Then, of course, Adam wants to get in on the silly action too.

2009-07-13 006

Erik likes to trick me and start out with a smile (above), but then quick change to some other strange expression (below) by the time the camera actually takes the picture.

Camping on the 4th of July

2009-07-04 006

Alex and Erik went on a Church campout on Mt. Lemmon for the 3rd - 4th of July. (I stayed home with Adam as I don’t feel much like sleeping on the ground at the moment.) They had lots of fun despite getting rained on quite a bit.

Alex’s Note: OK, so saying we got rained on a little bit is an understatement. It rained off and on in the afternoon, nothing too bad, but at 9:30 PM when I was putting Erik to bed a nasty thunderstorm blew over us and poured rain on us all night. "Fortunately" for us we were in nice and secure Coleman tents. Ours leaked from the roof all night as well as letting water soak up through the floor. We slept fine but I had a time cleaning out the tent in the morning. I still need to air out and dry the sleeping bags and sleeping mats before they grow a new form of sentient life in the garage.

Here’s Erik not wanting to smile for a picture.

2009-07-04 002

He had a great time playing with friends…in fact Alex rarely knew where he was since he was usually off somewhere playing with other kids.

This net is dangerous. The night before it tried to strangle Erik when he got too close.

Father’s Day

2009-06-21 005

On Father’s Day we gave Alex a shirt with the boy’s hand prints on it.

2009-06-21 003

And here’s a little before and after of the kids haircuts. In the first picture you can see Adam’s hair was getting quite long. Now, after haircuts yesterday I have two hairless little boys! Ok, not hairless exactly…but I think I went a little crazy…at least I won’t have to cut their hair again until the new baby is at least a month or two old :)
