Matching ties

2010-06-27 012

I got all my boys matching ties for Father’s Day!

2010-06-27 015

LOVE Erik’s expression in this picture! It is perfect. I wish I could get him to smile like this all the time.

2010-06-27 015Let’s take a closer look at his cuteness, shall we :)

I even had a matching skirt. I promise I didn’t plan that in advance at all.  That morning I was looking in my closet and I realized my blue skirt matched the ties very well. Yes it was a bit of overkill, but it was fun. :)

Adam was being terribly grouchy, and all that fussing made Tyler upset…so I mostly took pictures of Erik:

Hansom boy!

I ordered the ties from myfavoritepal.com, just incase anyone was wondering.

new old clothes :)

2010-06-22 001

A friend gave us some second hand clothes. Fun stuff :)  When I brought them home…this is what happened! The clothes were mostly in Adam’s sizes, but Erik insisted on finding something to wear. Stylin capris you have there Erik.

2010-06-22 002

Adam liked to try the underwear on over his pull-up. He put it on backwards because usually the larger picture of the character was on the back – and he wanted it in the front wear he could see it.

2010-06-22 008

Then Erik’s outfit got even BETTER when he added snow boots and a cowboy hat!

2010-06-22 006

Wow! That’s about all I could say about that ensemble. I was laughing quite a lot! ;)

Adam has had fun wearing a new shirt everyday since.

Sleeping with Buzz

2010-06-25 001

A few weeks ago my kids had never seen Toy Story. One of them saw a Buzz Lightyear toy at a friend’s house and had no idea who it was…they liked it, but didn’t know his name.  This made me think that it would be good if we watched the Toy Story movies…how did I ever let Erik get to be almost 6 without seeing Toy Story. (Insert slightly sarcastic over dramatic tone here.) ;)    The first 2 movies have been on TV recently with the 3rd one coming out – so we had our chance to record them!

Fast forward a couple weeks and now the boys LOVE all things Toy Story. They want to watch one or both movies every day (if I will let them)…and Alex got them some Toy Story toys on sale at Target this Thursday. I think between all three boys someone has been holding Buzz almost constantly since then.

Here is Adam sleeping with Buzz this afternoon.

2010-06-24 002

Last night Erik wanted the toys to have a pillow. Cute.

2010-06-15 002

Here’s Erik wearing Alex’s old Cub Scout shirt from when he was little! I can’t believe Alex wore this when he was 8 or so. Erik is pretty small for a five-year-old, and this shirt is very narrow and very long on him. I have to think it’s shape has changed  and distorted over the years. Anyway, quite fun to see him in Daddy’s old shirt!

Tyler likes real apples. (Not to fond of applesauce though.) I thought he would just mostly suck on it, but he is using all four of his little teeth (the top two just barely came in) to bite pieces of apple off. He also loves blueberries. We were eating some and he was crying for what we had. I held one up to let him lick it. To my surprise he bit right in. He made a face and I thought he wouldn’t want much more. Boy was I wrong! He kept going back for more bites. He probably ate about 7 blueberries that first time. Today he was eating them in his highchair. I just ripped them in half so they weren’t so choke-able, and he ate them all by himself. I suppose this isn’t that remarkable…it’s just none of my other kids will touch a real blueberry anymore. (They only like the tiny blue specks in the frozen blueberry waffles.)

And Adam eating…and sleeping. I saw him nodding off and I tried to convince him to go lay down. He insisted he was still eating, and wanted to just sleep where he was. And then he did just that!

Testing the tent

2010-06-14 012

Earlier this month Alex set our tent up in the living room to make sure it was in working order. (He is going to be using it more with being Scout Master and all.)

2010-06-14 007

The kids thought this was pretty fun!

Oops

Last week I made some spaghetti. I went to put cheese on it for Erik and I opened the “dump” side of the plastic top instead of the “sprinkle” side. This is what happened:

2010-06-12 001

Oops!

Here is the really funny part…Erik had been all upset and crying because he didn’t want to eat any spaghetti. After the cheese accident he was all excited and in a much better mood. I scooped off a lot of the cheese, (until I could see spaghetti peaking through in spots, but I didn’t want to keep scooping and contaminate the rescued cheese to much with the tomato sauce underneath). But Erik was still left with a lot of cheese. He happily ate his spaghetti and cheese…I mean his CHEESE and spaghetti :)

Adam saw all the cheese and wanted some. He ate lots of “cheese balls”…aka – the clumped up balls of parmesan from the rescued cheese. He would line them up on his plate and count them before digging in.

It turned out to be a pretty good dinner in the kids eyes. They were both much happier I’m sure than they would have been if I hadn’t spilled half the parmesan onto Erik’s spaghetti!

somersaults

the end of the school year

2010-05-21 001 2010-05-21 003

Summer is here and Erik is done with Kindergarten!

2010-05-25 009

Last week we got to go to Erik’s classroom. The children sang songs for the parents and we saw a video of each child. Then it was outside for water play and food. The boys had lots of fun…and now the school year is over! So Erik is excited that it’s summer vacation now!
