Brothers and Buddies

Lately it seems like Adam wants to be with Erik almost all the time. Adam will lay on the chair (as in these pictures) or on the floor and call "Egik, Egik" to get Erik to come and sit by him. It's very cute, but sometimes Adam can really pester Erik to no end, wanting rides in the kitchen on a blanket and such. Erik is usually very patient though, he's a very nice big brother!

Sonora Desert Museum Revisited

And it came to pass that we took of our family and sojourned in the wilderness at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. And we commanded our children to dig in the earth. (Editorial note: this is Alex typing here. Dawn is trying to prohibit me from putting this in. Pay no attention to her. I am hijacking this post.)

Isn't this one just so amazingly adorable. Dawn took this one. Scroll down to find the one that I took. It's better!

Dawn never puts up pictures of herself. I took this one without her being ready for it, and what do you know, it turned out nice. I win!

It should be noted in this picture, as well as any others where Adam is bent over with the little brush, that he is flinging sand behind him at a relatively high velocity. Caution!

Here is evidence of my damaged hand. Yes it hurts. Yes I'm on Vicadin. Yes, I shouldn't have gone to the museum with a damaged hand. I payed for it on Sunday.

Eureka! Erik discovered a fake dinosaur bone!

Here is the cuter picture. Wouldn't you agree? Freakin adorable! Even the other kid in the picture is in awe of his adorableness. ("What on earth" says Dawn.)

All of these pictures were taken with my new camera. It's a Canon powershot SX110 IS. It takes really good pictures without the need of a flash and even takes good pictures through plexiglass and netting.

This picture was really hard to get. I didn't even notice the hummingbird until I saw a woman trying to get a picture of it. She said she couldn't focus on the bird. my first couple shots we no good too until I figured out how to force the camera to focus on the bird and not the branches.

Anyone for some frog legs? I found this really good deal.

I like bobcats. The one on the left especially reminds me of my cats growing up. They were 25% bobcat. This picture was another hard one to get because of the lighting.

Dude that otter has a big tail!

One more thing. Even with a busted up left hand i can still type WAY faster than Dawn! I win!

Here's a video of the boys "digging" for dinosaur bones. Adam is furiously flinging sand with the brush, and you can hear him saying "brush, brush, brush, brush..."

Baby Pictures

So I don't think I have ever mentioned that I'm pregnant on the blog...so if you didn't already know...
Well now you do. My due date was July 27th or 28th (depending on which nurse or dr. I was talking to; they can never seem to get their story straight), but as of the ultrasound it's now supposedly Aug. 4th (what my dr. "thought she remembered" the ultrasound report said) or Aug. 6th (which is Erik's birthday, and what the ultrasound tech said last Monday.) So pretty much pick any day at the end of July or beginning of Aug. and it could be my due date!

Ah yes, and a week ago Monday we found out the baby is a boy...again...it does always seem to be a boy now doesn't it. What is up with that anyway???

In other news, last Tuesday Alex cut two of his fingers while using some power tool for woodworking. He spent 7 hours in the E.R. and finally was able to come home at 10:30pm that night after getting stitched up and all. At first they thought a tendon in his finger was cut, but the finger specialist guy (aka orthopedic surgeon) that he saw on Wed. said "no, the tendon is fine"...so that was good at least. So that's why it has taken me a week to post the ultrasound pictures...it's been a bit of a crazy week!

Erik's "recipe"

A few days ago Erik came up with this "recipe" and told us that he wanted to make it for dinner.

"Take one slice of cheese, put a muffin on it, put white sauce on it, and put another slice of cheese on top."

He kept talking about it for several days, so we got muffin mix at the store today and tried it out! The other day we had white country gravy... and Erik said that could be the white sauce, so we were ready. I gave Erik all the "ingredients" and he assembled his creation and started eating! It was pretty funny how he randomly came up with this idea and had to try it!

Alex gave the boys a ride on a towel. They both loved it and Adam did not want the rides to end. Afterwards, he got Erik to pull him on the towel. It was pretty heavy for Erik but he managed! Adam would just lay down on the towel and start yelling and kicking his legs for someone to give him a ride. Erik was nice enough to help him out :)

Yesterday Erik and Adam went for a bike ride with Daddy. They both had fun and looked very cute in the little trailer together. Alex said Adam's favorite part was going over bumps on the road! That's Adam for you. Our crazy cute baby!

Sonora Desert Museum

Erik had another field trip yesterday! We went to the Sonora Desert Museum. It's sort of like a zoo, but for our desert environment. Here's Erik in front of some beautiful mineral crystals.

Erik's trying to dig some fossils out of a rock and uncover a dinosaur skull.

We saw lots of animals...fish (above), lizards, snakes, spiders, deer, turtles, birds, squirrels, big horn sheep, a mountain lion, bobcat, fox, otter, humming birds, and lots of cactus and other desertish plants.

There was a cave they created at the museum that was very beautiful with water pools and stalagmites and stalactites. At first Erik didn't want to go in because it was dark...but good thing he did, because it ended up being his favorite exhibit (and mine too). We went back a second time before we left!

I took this picture this afternoon and just had to add it in too. Erik loves his sunglasses and takes them to school everyday. Looks like he's already training Adam to follow his example!

Cream Cheese!

Adam loves cream cheese! Well, who doesn't really, but here's Adam going to town on an english muffin with... of course...cream cheese!

What a yummy mess!
